The weeping Japanese maple is a deciduous shrub that has slow growth. It typically reaches a spread of 6-8 feet. A compact variety of this Japanese maple, rounded with pendulous branches. Young branches are colored in bright reddish-green whereas closely split & narrowed youngest leaves are pale lime-green. The plant has a low, mounding habit with a delicate, lacy texture and is often grown for its attractive foliage. The leaves are deeply divided into narrow, finely serrated lobes, and emerge bright green in spring, turning orange-red in the fall. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Sekimori is an ideal choice for shady borders, woodland gardens, or containers.
